剧情介绍

　　本片根据历史真实故事改编而成。十六世纪，好色之徒英王亨利八世见异思迁， 爱上了安妮，于是想与王后离婚。他断绝了与罗马教皇的联系，以免受到制约，但他仍必须寻求国内贵族的支持，因而他要求大法官托马斯.摩尔（Thomas More）在他的离婚法令上签字。托马斯.摩尔是一个讲原则而又富于理性的人，他是当时英国著名的政治家，并著有有深远影响的《乌托邦》一书。他在此时则被置于一个两难的境地：是不屈服于腐败国王的淫威而坚持原则，还是向好色暴戾、无可救药的亨利八世低头？最后他辞去了大法官的职务，并拒绝签字。他与国王矛盾的激化使他最终被亨利八世陷害而死，他留给后人的则是一片丹心。
